Monster Types
- Aberration - This covers all monsters of the Aberration type, such as Beholders.
- Animal - This is covered under the Knowledge (nature) and Survival skills (Player's Handbook, page 70 and 76).
- Beast - This is covered under the Knowledge (nature) and Survival skills (Player's Handbook, page 70 and 76).
- Construct - This covers animated objects and man-made constructs, such as golems.
- Dragon - This covers all creatures of the Dragon type, such as dragons and wyverns.
- Elemental - This covers creatures of the Elemental type, such as invisible stalkers
- Special: If you have 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (planes) you get a +2 synergy bonus to Knowledge (Elemental) checks.
- Fey - This covers all creatures of the Fey (faerie) type, such as dryads.
- Giant - This skill covers all creatures of the Giant type, such as ogres and trolls.
- Humanoid - Covers all the "monster" and demi-human races, such as orcs, kobolds, humans, and dwarves, as well as humanoid creatures with monstrous or animalistic features, such as centaurs and minotaurs.
- Magical Beasts - Covers creatures with the Magical Beast type, such as basilisks and unicorns.
- Special: If you have 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (nature) you get a +2 synergy bonus to Knowledge (Magical Beast) checks.
- Ooze - This covers all creatures of the Ooze type, such as gelatinous cubes.
- Outsider - This is covered under the Knowledge (planes) skill (Player's Handbook, page 71).
- Plant - This is covered under the Knowledge (nature) and Survival skills (Player's Handbook, page 70 and 76).
- Shapechanger - This covers creatures with the Shapechanger type, such as doppelgangers and lycanthropes.
- Undead - This skill covers creatures with the Undead type, such as vampires and zombies.
- Vermin - This is covered under the Knowledge (nature) and Survival skills (Player's Handbook, page 70 and 76).
